Counceling

Counselling with an experianced Gender specialis, with lived and work experiance  for transgender people and family/friends.

There are times in our lifes journey where we feel the need to express our feelings, to work through problems and emotional junctions/decissions in our lives,
This is often a difficult thing to do as others especialy family and friends may not undrestand or accept the way you feel, we need a safe accepting and affirming experiance when we take that step, or if you arer a parent or gardian even a friend you may find chatting to our councellor helpful both in understanding and emotionaly.
As we are a transgender support service we are fully aware of the difficulties of transition and the things that can impact you on your journy,
Our sessions are a way of you having the safe space with support to talk through not just the negative or worrying aspects but also the positive things in your life,
we can offer advice in coppeing startigies like breathing exorcises or just how you percieve the world to make things more positive,

Therapy provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk about your issues and concerns. the therapist will help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others.. A counsellor will not give you their opinions or advice or prescribe medication. They will help you find your own solutions – whether that’s making effective changes in your life or finding ways of coping with your problems.
How often you see your therapist and how many appointments you have will depend on your individual circumstances, and will be agreed between you and your therapist.
During a session, your therapist may take you through specific exercises designed to help with your problem, or you might have more general discussions about how you're feeling. What you talk about will vary depend on what you want help with It could include:
  • your relationships relating to transiition, as a trans person or a relative or friend
  • your childhood
  • your feelings, emotions or thoughts, important if taking cross sex hormones
  • your behaviour
  • past and present life events
  • situations you find difficult, ie, transitioning in schoool or the work place.
  • Aproaching GRA surgery or post oprative emotions and thooughts on results
Your therapist will be impartial but understanding. They will listen to you without judgment and help you explore your thoughts and emotions. They may offer information, but they won’t tell you what you should think or do.
Confidentiality is paramount to the councelor to client relationship but be aware that if you disclose that you will or have harmed yourself or others, that the councelor will let you know that they may have to inform other proffessionals. 'we have a duty of care towards our clients but have to also consider the risks to others'.
